Position Summary

The Certified Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, TCIA standards, and company policies. This role plays a critical part in protecting employees, reducing risk, and promoting a proactive safety culture across all job sites. The ideal candidate must hold a TCIA safety certification, specifically the TCIA Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) or equivalent TCIA-recognized safety certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TCIA safety certification (Certified Treecare Safety Professional – CTSP or equivalent TCIA safety certification).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of safety management experience, preferably in tree care, arboriculture, construction, or field-based operations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing or managing safety programs in TCIA-accredited companies.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation processes and claims management.
  • Experience using safety management software or digital reporting tools.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Job description:

Responsibilities:

  • Meet daily production goals.
  • Coordinate daily tasks based on work orders, priorities, and the schedule provided, ensuring productivity targets are met.
  • Assign individual responsibilities and projects to crew members as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with clients—communicate professionally from arrival through project completion, clearly outlining next steps before leaving the site.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor crew members to ensure skill development and team cohesion.
  • Promote the safe operation of tools, equipment, and machinery; provide training on safety gear and procedures in line with Field Safety Manager guidelines.
  • Maintain quality control across all job sites and completed work.
  • Quickly and professionally address any conflicts or miscommunications among the crew.
  • Provide regular updates on project status to managers, schedulers, and the sales team as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in:
  • Proper pruning techniques and principles
  • Tree identification and basic tree biology
  • Reading and executing work orders and plans
  • Conducting job briefings
  • Tying basic knots and operating ropes for rigging, cabling, and bracing
  • Operating and maintaining chippers safely
  • General work site safety, including electrical hazard awareness, emergency procedures, hazard recognition, and proper PPE use

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Foreman or Crew Leader in the tree care or construction industry.
  • Proficient in tree cutting techniques both on the ground and while climbing, with strong knowledge of natural and directional pruning.
  • Deep understanding of aerial lift equipment and hydraulic crane operation.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing strenuous tasks in varying weather conditions.
